A while back, we celebrated sweet little Charlotte’s first birthday with a photo shoot at the park. This was such a fun-filled, laid back session with a sweet family. I love to get parents focused on their child so they aren’t so aware of the camera, and that produced some naturally sweet family memories this day back in June. I love all the bright summer colors and pure happiness in this set of images. Isn’t Charlotte a doll!?!?!!

Vacation

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet little brand new baby. Maryn is a reminder of God’s grace and faithfulness to me as she is truly a miracle baby in every way. I was so excited to spend some time with my sweet friend Kelley and her family as they enjoyed this special time and beamed with excitement over her arrival. I haven’t been sharing as many pictures from each session as I’m sharing here, but I had to make an exception. I just can’t help myself as I continue to celebrate with this precious family. Maryn Elizabeth is here!!

Componation Family

A few months ago, I photographed this sweet family for the third time, and just like our previous sessions, we had a blast. We clicked the first time we met back in 2010 for an urban family shoot, and then had a great newborn session when they welcomed baby Isaac to the family last year. So it was a treat to photograph them as a family again now that Isaac is sitting up and enjoying his big brother and sister so much. I suggested this coral, blue, and grey color palette for their wardrobe and pulled together some ideas for them, and it was great to see how Megan pulled the look together for them. They are such a fun and adorable family to work with.

Back in the spring, I was so excited to hear from Naomi, a sweet friend from college. I love that she values capturing Vivian and Patrick’s milestones, and that’s just what we did as this session was right around their first and third birthdays. They met me at the Gardens in March and we had a beautiful morning to spend together. Patrick is such an adorable little guy and Vivian is a living baby doll….so precious!!!

365 PROJECT | MASON

Since I held off on posting on the old blog…..for months….thinking that the new blog was going to be ready any day….for months (totally my fault!)….I have quite a bit of catching up to do. But I’m going to look at the bright side and say that just means I have plenty to share in the coming weeks. I have continued with the picture-a-day project with Mason that I started back in August of last year. I suppose most people start such a project at the beginning of the year, but last August I decided that now was the time and didn’t want to wait until the beginning of the year so one day I just quietly began. I’m not sure if I will stop at the end of July when I have completed the 365 days or if I will keep on going, but for now I’m enjoying taking in the small moments and having these images to look back on how much he has changed.

It’s Launch Day!!

After many many months in the works, I am SO excited that launch day is finally here!! I began working with a talented designer back in the fall on a new logo and branding for Sprouts. I wanted something that reflected my style a little bit better than my previous branding, and I am really happy with the direction we went together. Through crafting with my mom as a child, building things with my dad & grandparents as a teenager, and then through architecture school and into adulthood I have always appreciated fine craftsmanship. I love brands that have a sense of the human touch, its especially warm in this digital age. So one thing that was important to me was to have a bit of a sense of “a human was here” on my web presence. I mentioned the idea of a hand-stitched logo to the designer early on in the process and I am really glad we went that direction. The final piece they delivered is really lovely (pictured in the site header). It was a challenge to pick it up at that point and translate everything into a website and blog, but I enjoyed taking on that challenge and creating a clean, simple site that reflects my style. I used the ProPhoto platform and was SO impressed with how user friendly it is to customize, and their customer service is top notch! Its been a long tiring process but I am so pleased with the results and mostly just glad that I can finally push this labor of love out into the world!! I hope you spend some time exploring the new site, I would love to know what you think! A few of my favorite things are the social media sharing options, my “favorite things” in the “meet Heather “ section, and the clean lines of the gallery pages that really let the images stand on their own. Pictured below are a few snippets of what you’ll see around the new site. Oh I’m just so excited this is finished!!!

I never intended to be gone so long from the blog, but it seems I’ve been “just about a week away” from finishing my new branding and site since early in the year. I began holding posts for the launch of the new site and here we are months in to the new year and still I’m “just about a week away”. So hold tight; lots of new sights coming soon!!
